Descriptions
A Handheld Optical Fiber Ranger Fault Finder is a compact tool used to locate faults, breaks, or weak points in fiber optic cables. It works by sending light pulses down the fiber and measuring the reflections caused by discontinuities, such as breaks or significant bends in the fiber. This tool helps technicians quickly identify the location of the fault without needing extensive testing equipment.
This device functions similarly to an Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), but it is a more basic and affordable alternative. The Fiber Ranger measures the time it takes for the light pulse to reflect back from a fault, then calculates and displays the distance to the fault point. It's commonly used in the field for quick troubleshooting, especially in smaller or less complex fiber networks.
