Huawei discloses a quantum computing patent

October 25 news (Nanshan) According to the State Intellectual Property Office, Huawei recently disclosed a patent titled "A quantum computing method, device, storage medium and chip system", with the publication number CN118780379A. The patent application date is April 7, 2023, and the inventors are Long Hanlin; Li Junning; Cheng Ran; Li Junming.




The patent content shows that quantum computing is a computing method that uses quantum mechanics principles to use quantum bits as basic computing units to run quantum algorithms. In the noisy medium-scale quantum era, researchers have designed various algorithms that can reflect quantum superiority, such as the Variational Quantum Eigensolver (Variational Quantum Solver) for solving the ground state energy of chemical molecules. Eigensolver (VQE) algorithm.

In the VQE algorithm, quantum bits are used to describe the occupied or unoccupied state of chemical molecular orbitals. The variational quantum circuit composed of parameterized quantum gates evolves the quantum initial state. After that, by measuring the evolved quantum state, the expected value E of the chemical molecule Hamiltonian with respect to the quantum state can be calculated. Then, the parameters in the variational quantum circuit are continuously optimized by the classical optimizer to make the expected value E as low as possible and reach E0. At this time, E0 is the ground state energy of the chemical molecule.

Among them, the quantum circuits commonly used to calculate the ground state energy of chemical molecules include but are not limited to the unitary coupled cluster (UCCSD) algorithm or hardware efficient algorithm. Taking the UCCSD algorithm as an example, in order to improve the accuracy of quantum computing , the number of quantum circuits set by the UCCSD algorithm is very large, and each cycle in the above-mentioned loop optimization process involves the calculation of a large number of quantum circuits, which will consume a lot of computing power of the quantum computing device, and the calculation takes a long time.

The present application provides a quantum computing method, device, storage medium and chip system to reduce the consumption of device computing power in the quantum computing process and improve the efficiency of quantum computing.

The method proposes to delete the operator pool corresponding to the chemical molecule before calculating the ground state energy of the chemical molecule, and only retain the operators in the operator pool that have a greater impact on the structure of the chemical molecule, and use the remaining operators after deletion to calculate the ground state energy of the chemical molecule. This method reduces the number of operators in the quantum computing process, thereby reducing the consumption of device computing power and improving computing efficiency.
