What is Fiber Spool Insulator used for?
DESCRIPTIONS
The Spool Insulator (TP-3618-A) is a critical component used to electrically isolate optical fiber cables from metal structures, specifically iron poles, in overhead telecommunication deployments. Its primary role is to prevent current leakage and ensure system integrity by providing robust dielectric separation between the conductive pole and the optical fiber cable, especially in outdoor environments exposed to varying weather conditions.
Manufactured from high-grade ceramic, this insulator boasts excellent dielectric properties and resistance to both mechanical stress and weathering. It features standard dimensions that are compatible with most pole fixtures and cable routing systems, ensuring ease of installation and integration into existing infrastructure. The material’s insulating capabilities remain effective under both dry and wet conditions, making it ideal for long-term use in aerial fiber optic systems.
The insulator is engineered to perform under high voltage exposure, supporting up to 25kV in dry conditions and 12kV to 15kV under wet vertical and horizontal orientations. With a mechanical failing load of 13.3kN, it provides the strength needed to maintain cable positioning while withstanding environmental stress, including wind, ice, and cable tension.
