China Mobile launches 5G Joint Innovation Center

At the GTI Summit held during MWC 2016 in Barcelona, China Mobile officially launched China Mobile 5G Joint Innovation Center jointly with its first 11 partners.

Aiming at appealing 5G industry partners

China Mobile 5G Joint Innovation Center takes win-win cooperation as the core and focuses on basic communication capability, IoT, car networking, industrial Internet, cloud robot, VR/AR and other fields in the evolution of 4G to 5G. China Mobile 5G Joint Innovation Center joints up with partners in the telecom industry, Internet industry and vertical application industry, aiming at driving basic communication capability to achieve maturity, promoting the development of 5G innovation applications and constructing a multi-industry converged ecosystem.

The innovation center will set several laboratories

The 5G Joint Innovation Center will set several open laboratories. It will carry out design, development, key technology validation and optimization, business model exploration and incubation of innovative 5G products and will construct a dynamic multi-industry joint innovation platform based on the end-to-end interoperability, extensive field test environment and innovative collaboration provided by the open laboratories with converged industry strength. It is reproted that China Mobile 5G Joint Innovation Center will build the central laboratory in China Mobile Research Institute in Beijing and build regional laboratory in China Mobile International Information Port, Qingdao, Chongqing and other regions.

Relying on 5G Joint Innovation Center, China Mobile will be actively involved in 5G trials organized by China's IMT-2020 Promotion Group and promote 5G candidate technologies' validation, standard setting, industrial chain construction and product maturity to meet the needs of 5G commercial deployment in 2020. China Mobile also wants to cooperate with international organizations including GTI, GSMA and NGMN, attract more partners, expand the cooperation contents of 5G Joint Innovation Center and promote the new results worldwide.
